Tequila successful in Verden
Last week Markus showed Tequila de Lile, Charmed and Contina R in Verden. While all three mares jumped very well, Tequila was the one standing out - the 9-y-o by Lucciano *HN jumped clear throughout all courses of the week, placing 7th in Friday's medium tour qualifier. It was her turn in the Grand Prix as well and Lila convinced all along the line, clearing the course seemingly effortless. 16 riders had qualified for the jump-off, 8 of which delivered another clear round. One of those riders was Markus, navigating his chestnut mare through the course in fast 34.75 seconds. Only one rider managed to beat that time, Markus' student Andreas Kreuzer, who won in front of Markus and Tequila.
Charmed was Markus' choice for both Grand Prix qualifiers. She placed 7th in the first one and had one unfortunate fence down in the very demanding track of the second qualifier.
Completing the trio was Contina, who placed in all three youngster classes, including a 7th place finish in the final.
Meredith' last stop before Rio was in Valkenswaard, where she competed at the LGCT 5* event with Twiggy and Chief. While Chief placed 8th in Saturday's 1.50m class, it wasn't Twiggy's lucky day in the Grand Prix a day later. One unfortunate fence down kept them from coming back for the second round.
